Metrolina Medical Research: Operation Christmas Child
The staff of Metrolina Medical Research in Charlotte, NC helped to make a difference to children throughout the world by participating in Operation Christmas Child on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Operation Christmas Child was started by Samaratin's Purse in 1993 to brighten the lives of children during the holidays. In 2008 alone, Operation Christmas Child distributed 8 million gift-filled shoe boxes to children in over 100 countries. Nearly one quarter of those boxes were prepared at their Charlotte Processing Center by nearly 23,000 volunteers, all in a 19 day period. This year, they are on track to meet their goal of distributing 8.2 million shoe boxes around the world.
