November is American Diabetes Month

November is American Diabetes Month®, dedicated by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to building awareness and encouraging people to come together as a community to Stop Diabetes.

According to the ADA, recent estimates project that as many as one in three American adults will have diabetes in 2050, and an additional 79 million Americans are at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The ADA estimates that the total cost of treating those with diagnosed diabetes in the United States is $245 billion.

Diabetes is a serious disease and if not managed properly, it can lead to heart attacks, strokes, amputation, blindness, kidney failure and nerve damage. However, diabetes complications can be prevented or delayed by managing blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol levels. In addition, eating healthy, being physically active and quitting smoking also can help lower the risk of diabetes complications.

Most PMG Research sites have several diabetes studies enrolling at any time, and chances are, if you have diabetes - we have a study that may be right for you! You can find additional information by visiting our website’s listing of diabetes studies, or you can contact us online for more information.
