Today is World COPD Day!

World COPD Day is an annual event organized by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) to improve awareness and care of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) around the world.  Their theme this year is: “It’s Not Too Late.”

COPD is a major cause of illness, yet many people who have the disease may not know it. Many people think common COPD symptoms such as coughing and breathlessness are just a normal part of getting older, but they may not be. If you suffer from these symptoms, see your doctor. Although there is no cure for COPD, proper management of the disease can help you feel less short of breath, cough less, and increase your mobility. Quitting smoking is the first step!

Many PMG Research locations - including Raleigh, Salisbury, Wilmington and Winston-Salem, NC and Bristol, TN - have studies of COPD enrolling now! You can find additional information by visiting our website’s listing of COPD studies, or you can contact us online for more information.
